Hey I just got my 2.3 as a grad present and 88hp isnt really anything im excited about. its an 89 notchback with a 5 speed. I dont have alot of money but i was wondering what kinda performance upgrades i could do to give it a little pep. anything would be great thnx

 

WELL YOU HAVE A START ITS A MUSTANG. YOU COULD BUY UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS FOR IT AND ABOUTANYTING ELSE THAT WOULD WORK FOR AN SVO STANG MINUS THE TURBO.

 

I'd say left it alone and save your $$$$ to do a v-8 swap/c4 trans it's a notch..getting harder to come by

 

there's nothing wrong with a 4 cyl engine when your looking for fuel economy,but they are very sluggish,my self i'm using synthetic oil,and i threw my air filter in a ditch because the thing would barely climb a hill without downshifting, all i notice is that i have to clean my spark plugs once and a while, but i gained alotmore go,now i don't reccomendthrowing your filter away, but a k&n would do the job,my engine has 350,000 kilometeres onit so itsnot a big deal if i get dirt in it.also i removed the air silencer from the intake tube,which is a 10 minute job, also youcan modify a bigger throttle body from a 5.0 to fit a 2.3 which would help it breathe,also they make performanceoils for the tranny,rear end, and of course theengine which will make a considerable difference that you can notice, good luck.
