Default Check Engine Light

I just put cold air intake and a MAC Catback exhaust system on my 99 v6 stang. Now the check engine light is always on. Is this an indicator to get MIL Eliminators?

A catback is everything behind the midpipe, and if that is the only exhaust component you installed it should not be the source of the CEL. MIL eliminators are used ahead of the catback, on the rear 02 sensors, when an offroad (catless) midpipe is used. Did you also change the midpipe?

If not, check for any vacuum leaks caused by installation of the CAI.

hmm. My exhaust system was a Y style pipe. Im thinking it was from the CAI seeing as that was when the light came on. I disconnected the battery and the light went off, but after five or ten minutes it would come back on again. So i guess that would eliminate the need for MIL Eliminators

I think those sensors are wierd. I have had my cats off for about 2-3weeks now, and my check engine light now just came on. Guess it's time to get the tuner.
