Default Changing speedometer color

I heard you could change the color of the numbers and such on your dash by simply opening it up and placing colored tissue paper behind the numbers. Is this true? How else would you go about changing the color?

I'd imagine that would just dim the light. If it did change it, it would look ****ty. Do it the right way and get new gauges.

wow there is a lot of threads about gauge color in 4.6 and 3.8 sections lately lol...bottom line the stock gauges and AC panel are tinted (from the back)...changing the bulbs or putting colored paper behind them will just darken the light...it will still shine through teal on 99-00 and green on 01-04...check out speedhut.com for some custom gauges...i'm ordering mine from there soon...you can pick from their pre-made ones or you can go completely custom...just email them what you want...i am probably going for the EL glow ones with the Ford Racing logo in the center...white carbon fiber with red writing and a matching AC panel too

I'd go with the leds, its more personable and with guages you're limited to what you can buy. Don't make a rainbow in your car though...for obvious reasons.
