Default Engine Work

I had to take my Stang back to the dealership today becauseI had been noticing some oil leaking out of it. I just got a call from them and they said i had three leaks all coming from the motor. Two leaks were around the intake manifold and the third major leak was on the back of the block where the shaft of the tranny goes into the motor. They said its going to cost me like $600 to fix it. They will have to tear the motor competely apartto fix all of the leaks. I was just wondering if n e of you all have had this kind of problem or heard of it? We recently had this same thing done to one of my parents cars(Ponatic Grand Prix)and we took it to a dealer and 2 months after they fixed the car the motor competely blew. Where pretty sure when they fixedthe car they droped silicon down into the motor and didn'tclean it out which caused it toblow. So me and my dad were a little unsure if we should have them fix my car because we didn't want to run the risk of my motor blowing up on me. Just let me know what you all think....

The dealership is a good place they do good work just kinda expersive. I just got a call 5min ago and they told me they had to raise the price $200 so it now cost $800 to fix the problem. They raised the price because i have a aftermarket exhaust which means they will have to unweld everything to work on the motor. I really don't understand this because if you were taking the motor out just unbolt the headers and leave the rest of the exhaust alone. Just tell me what you all think.

its a stealership...you're always gonna pay when you go there...take it to a trusted mechanic in town and let him see what he thinks is wrong with it

I don't know why they would pull the motor and not the trany? Maybe that's what they are pulling and your pipes are in the way? You don't have to pull the engine to replace a main seal.

The dealership just called me back and told me that the manifold leaks are so small that its not even going to matter if i fix it or not. They said they already had the tranny out and were fixing that seal. So i guess thats good news.

guess its a little too late, but i would have probably taken it to an independent shop, kind of expensive but if they have to tear apart the motor then i guess its not that bad

Well, tell em that u didnt want them to get it fixed AFTER they fix it. and not pay for it. Seems to me that they took the liberty on themselves to fix it without ur authorization to do it. Tell em u WERE going to take it to another place. get the keys and drive off!
