Default Trouble Code P1443

I have been getting this code P1443 I was told this code was being caused by the EGR valve.

I replaced the EGR valve hoping that this would fix this code, but it keeps coming back.

I am thinking maybe the DPFE Sensor needs to be replaced?

Any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

By the way I have a 1996 Ford Mustang V6.

DPFE always. It's one of the most common replacement parts for Fords. Try taking it off and cleaning out with O'Reilly's Brake Cleaner(that brand specifically). Spray it out a few times and let it dry and repeat about 3 or 4 times. It may make it work again. What typically happens to make them go bad is carbon build-up along with moisture damages the sensor. Usually when a freeze comes they break, due to the water freezing, expanding, and cracking the circuit board.

The DPFE is the deal with the hoses that connect to the EGR valve and the engine correct?

A sensor throwing a code doesn't mean it's a bad sensor, it usually means that the sensor is working perfectly, but is picking up an issue that another, bad sensor, is allowing to occur. EGR's and vapor canisters don't go out nearly as often as DPFE's do, so I'd start there, it's probably bad and the other sensors are detecting the problem.

had the same problem and i just changed the sensor. i had to clear the code first and it came on but then turned right back off. i hate that engine light though. what a hassle. P.S--- dont buy the sensor from the dealer. they wanted 70 bucks. i went to NAPA or try autozone. workks just fine now
