I thought of Push-Pops when I read that...

Try rivets, I used them in metal shop and they hold together really well. I have two pieces of 1/8 band iron held together by rivets and it works like a charm (now I'm thinking of Lucky Charms...)

I used self tapping screws on mine....the ones with washers already attached....ive banged the spolier around a bit, yet it still stays up and there are never any lose screws.....Go to kragen, they should be there, i believe theyre about a 1/2" or so long.

i heard the industrial strength double-sided tape (you know like the tape used to mount heavy a$$ mirrors and stuff. you can get it at home depot.) works really good well and once it's on it'll never come off.
