Default muffler size etc.

Ok so im getting GT takeoffs and then buying mufflers and welding them on. Now ive got a jegs catalog and ive been looking thru it and its got a few that i like but they have sizes, like im looking at an Edelbrock oval X 19" long case thats a size 2". Magnaflow oval 14" long case thats 2-1/4 and one thats 2-1/2" and then im looking at the FlowmasterStandard40s thats 2 chamber 4"x10"x13"Long case and 19" overal. and the one im looking at is 2" and another is 2-1/4" hell one even goes up to 3". then im looking at a Super 40, which i kinda want kuz it had adeeper toneand its 5"x10"x13" Long case 19" overall and the specific ones are from 2-1/4" to 2-1/2".

Im confused by all the measurements, what matters and what doesnt matter? whatim guessing the 5"x10"x13" and 19" is the size of the casing and that the 2-1/2"s are the pipe diameter? What do i need and what should i get,if im going to be welding them on to stock GT pipes,Id like the Magnaflow and the Flowmaster Super40s kuz they are in my price range.

you need 2.25" diameter to match the take-offs, length i dont really know but it shouldnt matter too much u may just have to cut a small bit off of your pipes to make the new mufflers fit or they may end up being a tad short, nothing that a quick mod cant fix

To match the take offs you need 2 1/4" piping. Don't worry about those measurements, that's jsut manufacturer BS that shop owners and "People in the Know" use. Just get the right pipes, and mufflers "specifically" made for Mustangs and you'll be good. If you can't find that info, then just email jegs, they'll tell you what mufflers you need.

What do you guys think of these? i kinda think it would look bad *** to put em on each pipe. they come in 2-1/4 in 2-1/2 out.
