Default To Charge or not to Charge?

for those of you who do have a supercharger/procharger/turbo charger:

1.) What do you like/dislike about it?

2.) How much was it?

3.) Where did you get it?

and...

4.) Did you have it professionally installed?

Thanks for the advice in advance!

Hmmm..............let's see, sixers with an S/C that frequently post on this forum...................1, sixers with S/Cs that are hit or miss on posting, 3, maybe 4 at best.

I say this, look around, even ebay, a lot of places sell S/Cs but the V6 version is a little harder to find but not impossible. I will say this much, I would try to get one that can be made, or is an intercooled system. Some oil cooled systems, like Vortec and Paxton tap into the oil pan to help lube and cool the S/C. Only problem is that if you get on it a lot and your oil gets too hot you can run the risk of damaging the S/C, it has happened before, somebody in the 5.0L forum had it happen with a Paxton, never heardof the problem with Vortec, but it seems to be a problem with Paxton, where as intercooled systems are always cool and can allow you to tune for more PSI boostif you wish, however they are pricier.

I don't think eaton makes one for a six. Actually, the only eatons I know of on Stangs are the M90 for a single port six and the M112 on the 03/04 Cobras. To make the M90 fit you'd have to switch to a single port, so it isn't really worth it, and it's more trouble than it's worth to make an M112 unless you're confident enough to do a lot of custom fabrication work yourself.

you can run non-cooled just fine. i ran non-cooled over a year with no problems. it's all in the tune. running cooled doesn't necessarily let you run more boost either.

Procharger. cons: Bad history of bad seals. Pros: intercooled
Vortech. Cons: need to tap oil pan, no intercooled kit.Pros: super reliable
Eaton. Cons: won't work on 99+, super heat charge air. Pros: instant boost
Turbo. Cons: $$$$. Pros: efficient, most power, easy to up boost.

i would go turbo if i didn't already have a Vortech.
