What to do with the new car

I recently bought a '95 mustang 3.8L and I really like this car so far. I picked it up for 1700 bucks. Near perfect body/paint, great interior, engine is pretty good as far I know. It really just needs minor work.

Now, I bought this car for the price because I still wanted to buy a new bike, but I'm thinking about keeping that extra money to put into this car (now or future).

It has a little over 140k miles, so I have no idea when the transmission or engine will go out (not that there is any indication that they are going to go out anytime soon... the car runs great). As much as I would like to get a 302, I doubt I would have enough $$$ in the case that the transmission were to go out.

So, rebuild engine and/or transmission, buy a new engine or transmission? wait til either goes out?
Or invest in replacing all the somewhat small things (wires, plugs, etcetc) and get it into the best possible running condition?

I don't want to put too much money into the car to the point of where I wouldn't be able to get anything back from a resell (not that I plan on selling it).

My main goal is to simply make this car last...

Your opinion wasn't taken anything more than a flush of crap down the toilet.
You obviously didn't even read what I wrote, so I won't bother paying any attention to your ignorant comment.
It helped me in no way.

140, not 114.
derrrrr

Red... what he ment was, dont put too much into mods to the point where you cant afford repairs, over 2 years ive paid like 2500 for repairs total, and ive only got 75k. The first 1500 was to repair the body, and the other 1000 was for stupid stuff i coulda done... like new radiator, thermostat and break pads and turn signal switch.... the shop will really juice u for all your worth.
