so is it really worth it??
well i currently have a 96 v6 mustang and im just wondering if its really worth it to do motor work... so like how much would it take to run with a stock v8 or 5.0?? or how good are some of u guys runnin? any responds will be appreciated lol
its not worth it to mod any car realistically, but the 3.8 is a good starting point
you can either get a tbird supercoupe motor from a junkyard or a 4.2 f150 v6 motor and reuse your stock upper intake mainifold, you will flat out rape a 5.0 with a supercoupe and some other small mods and have the edge in a drivers race with the 4.2

The engine is a good base to work on, although unless you have a ton of cash to throw at it, you're not going to be putting down crazy power.
A good thing to do it to figure out what you want to accomplish with the car:
• will it be a daily driver with some extra pep
• autocross
• drag car
• show car
Decide what you want to do with it and what parts you will need to get there, prices and where you can find the stuff you need. You can ask here for any help and direction. This should really help with comming up with a final product and from spending any unnecessary money.

It will take a nice bit to put you upthere with even a 96-98 auto GT, a hair pin more to get you even with a 94-95 GT, a little more yet to get you into 96-98 GT manual territory, a little more yet to hit 94-95 manual GT territory, and a lot more to get even with 99+ GTs.
First of all just ignore a lot of the basic bolt ons out there, they're not gonna help worth a fud. You should first invest in some exhaust and leave the bolt ons at that.
Next start looking into intake manifolds and heads from www.rpm-mustangs.com and or www.supersixmotorsports.com. There is also a member here (Cobra232) that is starting up his own porting and polishing business for heads and intakes, so drop him a PM if you see him.
After the intake look into upgrading the cam, might as well as the cam is right there.
Another route you can take is a split port intake coversion, it will make you as fast as 99-04 V6s are, and while you're at it, have the intake and heads ported to make it nicely fast.
Don't forget to upgrade your fuel pump, and injectors for the new system because your stockers just won't cut it. An adjustable fuel pressure regulator isn't a bad idea either.
Next start looking into a gear and differential swap.
After that if you're an auto have a shift kit and high stall torque converter installed, if you're a manual look into a stage 2 clutch and short shifter.
After all that start looking into superchargers.
Do all of this, and it will take some time, and depending on what route you take, you'll be pushing anywhere from around 300-325 rwhp with a single port set up, to 340-360 rwhp with a split port setup. GIVE OR TAKE A FEW RWHP.
