What happens if you put your car in 1st gear and gun it, will it red line then shift like my old car did or will it stay in the gear till you go into 2nd or drive?

obviously your talkin about an auto right?
it will just go up to and a little past redline then sit and bounce off the rev limiter. not good for your car.
