EXHAUST HELP!!!
Hey everyone im newhere and i need a little help,i just got a 2001 mustang v6everythings stock on it except the stereo system, haha, but anyways next weekend i am looking to get rid of the muffler for a better/louder one or try to take the cats and resonators off and put just straight pipes and a muffler on. Two questions, theres two cats and two resonators, on each cat right before and after it theres an O2 sensor what would happen if i just didnt use the O2 sensors after i took the cats off? and if i decided to leave the cats and resonators on and just get a muffler wich muffler would be the loudest/deepest? thanks
honestly im probly gonna be able to just spend enough for a muffler and tubing but lets say i dont remove the cats and resonators and just do the muffler what muffler would sound loud but not that ricey, flowmaster 40's? chery bomb? i have no clue
do you want dual or single exhaust
if you want dual do you want fake dual(use ur stock y pipe) or true dual (use a h or x or divorced pipes)
do you want catted or Offraod or in other words does your state do emmisssion checks ever year or so
if you want single exhaust just ask arround and listen to sound clips and decide what muffler that is all unless u want catless then just cut them out
if you want fake duals just buy a mac pypes flowmaster or magnaflow that workes with a factory y pipe
if you want true duals buy either a weld in h addapter or a new V6 h or x pipe or weld custom divorced pipes and buy 4.6 Gt cat back exhaust
if you have to pass inspection get catted h or x or a weld in H
if you dont have to pass inspecrion get O/R X H or divorced pipes and use ur 4 02 censors but buy mil eliminators so the light doesnt come on and send your car into limp mode which will your gass and power
hope this helps if u need pics to be able to figure out what im talking about let me know

i think i am jsut gonna leave the cats on because i dont have enough cash right now to get the mil eliminators, how do you guys think it would sound with the cats on the resonators off and the mufflers off and what muffler do you think would sound good, also what would it sound like if i jsut ran cats, no resonators, and no muffler?? thanks
You can save yourself a whole lot of money by getting turndowns under the car if you aren't going to keep the stock piping. I would do dual turndowns to get a better sound for cheap, and when you do get the money you can take off the turndowns and run pipes all the way back.
first off all 4 are cats. none of them are resonators. if you are going to stay single exhaust them don't touch the cats.
get a Force proseries muffler from jegs or summit racing. they are very similar to Flowmaster 40's but only cost $35/muffler. alot of people here have them and like them.
cut you stock muffler off and put in the force muffler in it's place. it will sound alot better.
the part# for the correct muffler you need is FRC-5201 from www.summitracing.com
or 395-5201 from www.jegs.com
