Default Cats Prob

Ok i went to a muffler shop today and asked them how much it would cost to take my cats aout and the guy was noddin his head his like u cant take them off its a federal law. So what do i do now?

If you do this you won't pass most (or all) state vehicle inspections. So basically this'll become a race only vehicle

when does my car ever get inspected?? and i cant do it my self couse u have to weld and idk how or have the tools.

take it to another shop and tell them it is for off-road purposes

i went somewhere & they said they can install x pipes but cant remove my cats & replace with straight pipes. well stupid.

You could always go with high flow cats, then you would still be legal.

Go to the ghetto and get it done. The guy is right though and he's covering his ***. It's illegal to remove cats. The reason the aftermarket catted h-pipes get away with it is because they get an emissions sticker where they are considered legal. It's a big EPA no-no to modify emissions on your car.

You'll have a hard time finding a shop to do it unless you know the people working in it. If you tell them it's for race use, though, they'll most likely do it.
