Default What would it Take?

My car is a 97 with 102,000 ish miles on it. It runs great, no real engine problems at all. What would it take to turbo it, like what would I have to replace or upgrade.(if it is even possible) And how much boost can it take. and what kind of turbo charger should I get.

it would probably take a couple modifications, dont know what but email the guy a TMA turbos. I've been trying to do some research on it too.

yea definately check out tma turbos. with that many miles your only going towant to run at max about 6-7lbs of boost. with the stock fuel system you can only do about 4lbs so you'd have to upgrade and get a tune to go any higher. if you want to run more then 7lbs your going to need a rebuild and forged internals.

wow... 4 psi sucks... How much do you think it would cost to have and engine rebuilt... or would it be cheaper to just drop a new 4.0 in it. and how much boost could that take stock.

it wouldnt be cheaper to drop a new 6 into it, probably about the same after labor for the turbo, but if you have a new engine, you have a new warranty for a couple years to cover repairs, which in turn gives you some time to save up for a turbo on a new engine. go for the new engine

What Andy (TMA Turbo owner) will look at is things like piston wear and over all conditon of the motor. Does it use oil? What kind of compression do you have in the cylinders? He will probably suggest a rebuild. Another option is to find a motor out of a 99-04 car and swap it in. The only major thing you would have to is use your return style fuel set up on a returnless style car. However, Andy has fuel rails that will allow that.
With stock fuel system, you can support a touch over 4 psi. With a fuel pump and injector upgrade, you can do more. I wouldn't suggest more than about 7 psi to start with and as you learn, you can increase the boost level. I would suggest starting with a basic intercooled single turbo set up.

you'll also need to re-do your entire exhaust if you still have the stock Y pipe
