I got my 00 pony 3 months ago w/o error codes (kinda lucky), but when I'd look under the hood I assumed it never had maintenance so I did these before drive it:

Washed and degreased all engine, changed engine and tranny oils, used castrol syntec blend (cheap and worth for a semi-synt)with a k&n oil filter, msd spark wires and autolite double plat plugs (budget before all), went to a fast lube shop to clean the injectors and changed the fuel filter, took off upper intake manifold and cleaned (also the throttle body)and put a mac cai...

For some performance I changed the belt tensioner, idling pulley,a steeda underdrive pulley (replaced the belt for a smaller of course) and a h pipe exhaust...

the car runs pretty decent for less than 500 bucks, we just have a couple highways but when i jump the border sure i can step on the freeway, last sat i tried the ac and it works! (kinda dumb while ridin' a convertible but what the heck i was only testin')

Last week the fuel pump started to sound loud, i can hear it withrunnin engine and standed at the rear bumper, it's weird 'cuz i don't feel any fuel pressure problem (at least 1/2 tank always)but another 200surely about to be spent

well, i cleaned my mass airflow sensor, and whichever other one is right there in the intake hose as well, ias or ais, whichever, and i cleaned the throttle body best i could without taking it off, by just holding it open and cleaning it with a small ragwhere it was easily accessible. while that did actually give me a noticeable increase in performance when i test drove, i think i found the problem of the mileage. i tested the wheels' turning ability... and while the driver's side turns just fine, it takes a whole lot more force to turn the passenger's side front wheel. any idea what could be causing a binding brake? assuming that's what it is...

while you have it jacked up, take the wheel off and look for scrapes on the caliper or inside the wheel maybe? Maybe the brakes were upgraded and are too big for the wheels.
