I would rebuild the engine then, super or turbo charge, if its a single port its gonna take slightly more work to hit 300 rwhp but it can be done

eh slap the blower on till it blows, 300rwhp is fine on a 3.8 but im unsure with the miles, a properly tuned 11 psi procharger with supporting mods until something happens then start with the build up

Sell all your stuff and buy a 05 GT, 300 hp and 87 octaine, then you have something to work with. trying to make 300 hp from 3/4 of a motor is not going to work very long.
But if you really want to blow your engine up , then a 125 shot will do it just fine.

HP=money

singleports can make alot of power but unported an 11 psi procharger will only give about 250rwhp and 280-290 ftlbs of torque which is really an amazing step from stock and with a good suspension setup and lighten the car can get you into the high 12's with the right gears

money. it all depends on which route you go a turbo kit can get you 300rwhp and torque a procharger with a splitport swap will get you 300rwhp a procharger with a 4.2L F-150 engine swap will get 320rwhp. there is alot of stuff needed though. fuel pump,MAF,42lb injectors,dyno tune,SCT tuner,detroit truetrac and 3.73's or 4.10's. off the shelf it will run $4500 at least. used parts can cut that cost in half but patience is needed to look for the parts. a home made turbo kit will get you there if you can do everything yourself. the best thing to do is a 100 shot wet nitrous kit with injectors and a good tune with 4.10 gears. it only good for about 250rwhp max on a singleport but over 300ftlbs of torque.

raw hp isn't the only equation. many guy's at 300rwhp can get beat by the same car with only 250rwhp because of a superior suspension setup.

120,000 miles if it was taken care of would be OK to adda a poweradder but you better off rebuilding the engine or throwing a lower mileage junkyard engine in it for $400

You are correct in your horse power estimate, However there is one sentence you may have overlooked, "then you have something to work with"

Making 300 Rwhp from a 3.8 is not impossible, Jack Roush was making around 500 when Bush were running V6. But his engines only had to last 5-600 miles and none of us are Jack Roush.
If you start with a good platform (like the 05 GT) then building is a whole lot easier.

god i hate people who type in bold.

while sn95's are dirt cheap, a fox body(before 94')5.0 would be a better starting point than a sn95. you also better check that the head gasket has been replaced, the sn95's had some major problems with them. 300hp is a lot easier to get with a split port, seeing as just a turbo will do the trick.

the engine has 120,000 miles, you will start to find yourself replacing a lot of things if it wasn't maintained properley. i would find a splitport 3.8 with low miles, it's like driving a brand new car and you geta 50hp increase. 400$ for 50hp isn't that bad of a deal. then slap on a turbo or procharger to the splitport, and vowla, you are at or arround 300hp.

but remeber...
