It's not so much the modding a mustang, it's the challenge of a V6 for me. It's fun and challenging. Everybody knows you can go to your local store and buy parts for your GT, but not everybody knows the potential of the V6 Mustang. Even though we lack 2 cylinders, we also lack that weight. About 200lbs, that's a considerable amount which also makes the V6 a little more stable than the GT. Also, not everybody is looking to build the fastest car. For some of us, it's just a hobby or passion, or lack of money. I personally think the 80's mustangs were the "darker" years for the beloved car, but that's my opinion. And I'm pretty damn happy with what my V6 has done for me so far. It's fun to drive, easy to work on, and pretty damn fast. I still have lods left to do, but breaking 400hp maybe even 500 is not going to be hard with the help of a few more mods if I decide to go any farther. And yes if you're asking supercharging would be the main way of getting there. Now with 400+ hp, their isn't may cars out there that could take my little ole V6. And on a final note, look back to the 80's when buick brought out there Grand National. It's a 3.8L just like our mustangs, but it is turbo charged.
very well said

i will add that the 3.8 ford has every bit the potential of the stage 1 production buick and probably more. it was based off of the buick but without the stage 1's faults

most buicks over 600rwhp go with the stage 2 block which is much stronger and is really not even the same engine as the stage 1

here is a pic of a left over nitrided buick stage 1 crank i have. it is a non turbo crank but the nitriding helps it handle 600hp if necessary. any more power and a forged crank should be used

You make perfect sense. But...As for the money part. If it were me, I would sacrificing having a couple years older GT than than buying a newer V6.

Also...Just my opinion. If I had to get a V6 stang and not a GT...I would rather go with a totally different car. I.E. To keep it Ford, maybe a 24v V6 Probe GT. Or just something totally different. I see the V6'ers as being in sort of the import category, and it is sort of a heavy car to be in the import category. I guess it is sort of hard to type what I am thinking.Lol!

This is in no way meant to be offensive. Just a discussion.

I understand what you are saying also, but I personally am not a huge fan of the fox body style Mustangs. That's why I went with my body style. I also understand what you're saying about being imports, but not all V6's are "imports" That's mainly because of the punk kids these days thinking those stupid huge spoilers and those buzz sounding fart canons are cool. Also I've seen some disgusting looking euro-clear tail lights. Maybe that's what you were thinking, but you can do that with any car, not just V6 mustangs. I'm "old school" or "all-american" muscle by heart I guess you can say. My car does not have a whale tail, a fart canon, a crappy design body kit or stupid clear tail lights. Thinking off the top of my head, only 3 body kits look good on mustangs. Saleen, Roush, and the Stalker kit. Everything else to me is ugly. But back on topic, I'm just trying to help you fellow V8 mustangers understand that their is alot of potential for your "kid brother". Stock GT's from my year came with 215-225 hp, I currently have that at my rear wheels, which put me in direct competition with the 99-04 stock GTs. That's all engine too!! I know a GT can and will always be able to make more hp, but like I said before I'm just building an enjoyable daily driver that has lot of horsepower, cheap on insurance, and gas.

Our stock rockers are already. 1.73:1, the only other option is 1.8:1

Im with 97stallion I wouldn't get a fox body. Don't get me wrong they do have a look that has lasted through the years, but It's not the look that a guy like me wants to be seen with. My v6 is just a hobby until I go to ODU for my automotive engineering degree and then to Wyotech to really figure out what the hell I'm doing. When I get all settled and everything I do plan on doing an engine swap for a 351 and a manual tranny and all that good stuff, but for now I'm 16 and have a hobby to pursue. Adding the stuff to a v6 is a little easier on my wallet, which isn't always full. Modding a v6 is also a challenge like with what 97stallion was saying.

Every day another v6 stang driver is getting closer and closer to that 500hp barrier that we will eventually crash right through. We have a little more of challenge, and we have to do things a little bit differently to get where a gt can get a lot easier.

there is a guy in alpharetta, ga with a 99 v6 with over 700 hp. i am not sure if that is to the crank or the wheels but i don't think it matters since it is still a v6. it is also a daily driver. it has twin turbos, 4.2 forged stroker, and some other stuff.

the biggest problem for me is not knowing what everything does. I know what CAI, underpully, and some other stuff does, but a lot of stuff is confusing to me, its probably because I just dont know enough, but i really wish i knew what everything meant, it would make my purchasing a lot easier...btw to me a lot faster than you, i dont know how old everyone is here, but im 18 myself, and turbo is out of the question unless i can come up with 3000 dollars. It just seems too expensive for a kid my age..or anyone who doesnt have a full time decent paying job. Thats just my take on it though.
