To make a 99-04 V6 hold it's own with a 5.0L, it doesn't take much. Good gearing, and a V6 will stay with a stock rear V8. It's that easy...especially if the sixer can drive. Gears, exhaust and an intake or pulley, and it wins.

but gears are the key, exhaust , udp and intake and the 5.0 is on top

You'll win. Ford autos suck ***** when it comes to stock performance, however, your car is significantly faster in it's auto form, and he'd have to do a nice deal of mods to be able to just keep up with you, let alone beat you. If he had a manual, and was a great driver, it would be semi close, but not with him having an auto.
