Default Duals for the V6

I just went to the new muffler shop here, it's major company that just reopened the shop back up a few months ago.
I asked the manager about putting dual on this 97 V6 and he said sure why not. NO other shop in this town would do it.
He took me to the car in the garage and pointed at the cats. He then said we will cut the pipes behind each cat and run the new pipes to the rear of the car. Michigan is a state where the garage can't take the cats off,if I remember correctly its a huge fine for taking cats off here.
I'm thinking cool, he said for a few extra bucks we will put the crome tips on. I'm not sure about the crome tips now.
My only suggestion was, to put 2 1/2 pipes to the rear and he said no problem. They use the Flo Master mufflers with this change over.
Price of $416.00 for this and extra for the crome tips.

Any suggestions on this project. I am making an appoinment with this place now.

Sounds good. I would go with the 3 1/2 rolled tips.

Yeah sounds good, but try to get SS tips, they do not rust and deterioate like the chrome ones do after a while.

Just get tips later. They're not that expensive at www.completeexhaust.com and can be held on with a muffler clamp temporarily until you can get them welded/have access to a welding gun.

I just did the Duals on my 07 V6. I bought and installed a complete system by Pypes exhaust. The system started by cutting after the cats and began with an X pipe to straights to the Pypes Street Pro mufflers with the 31/2 in chrome rolled tips.. The system looked and sounded Great but some judged it too loud, wifey was one. If you like the loud Cobra sound this is the way to go.
The second option which I swapped to and settled on was to leave the pipe kit in place and replace the Pypes free flow mufflers with stock Ford Mustang Gt Mufflers. The system sounds more like a Mustang Gt, naturally not as agressive.
My advice, having just gone thru this, decide on the sound level/type you want to achieve. Next All pipes and mufflers Stainless Steel only and lastly for the Total look replace the Rear bumper cover with the Stock Mustang GT cover if the 1997 has slots but if I remember correctly the Fox body hasnt any slots.

Good luck it is a worthwhile upgrade which should yield about 10% increase in rear wheel Torque and HP.
Not to mention 2-3 mpg.

Chrome tips for the win, but be warned, Flowmasters don't like water, so you may be replacing the whole thing again in a few years.

thats not bad if that price includes the price of the muffs and all the piping. i wouldnt pay over $250 for an install if you already have the catback system.
