ICM location on 2002 V6?
I'm having trouble finding the ignition control module for my 2002 V6. I called a few Ford dealerships and talked to the mechanics and no one was able to find it. Anyone else know where it is?
You don't have one. You have an ECU and a PCM. The ECU is in the passenger kick-panel and the PCM in inside the passenger fender well. Why are you looking for it?

Are you sure I don't have one? I've seen the stock replacement on the computer at Autozone, so I know it exists. I've got a bad misfire in 3 cylinders and the cylinders are on opposite sides. I know it's not a fuel problem, because I can smell the unburned fuel going through it. I changed the spark plugs, wires, and coil pack and it's still missing. I know it either has to be electrical or maybe the rocker arms.
it still could be fuel pump, i jst had one crap out on me and i could smell some serious raw fuel which is why i replaced my whole electrical system, have u checked fuel pressure with a computer while it is misfiring??
They may just be misnaming the PCM. It generally controls your engine and the way it runs. It's long name is Powertrain Control Module. Check your harness, you may have a ground issue as well. It's amazing how many strange issues can be traced to a deteriorated ground or just a bad connection.

and a misfire could be a # of things
also check ur maf, mainly just clean it with some electrical spray cleaner
u may wanna clean ur IAC also with some throttle body cleaner

I actually already checked the PCM and it's fine. I cleaned the MAF already too. Haven't checked the IAC yet, but it's actually idling fine right now. I just changed the CMP, hoping that was the problem, and it cleaned up the idle. It only has a rough idle nowafter I try to drive it. I'm obviously not driving it around, just driving to test things out after I've messed with it. I'veasked other people on other forums too. I've heard it could be electrical still, but I've alsoheard that it could be clogged fuel rails or injectors or even a blown head gasket. Ireally don't want to take it to amechanic just yet. I always try to fixeverything and install everything myself before I take it to a professional. (I don't think anything I did messed it up. I've hadexperience working on cars, so I'm pretty confident in myself)
well i would clean the iac jst cause it only takes a few mins and it wont hurt ne thing, i took mine to ford to see if they knew what it was and they hooked me up for free on the cpu and i could see my full diagnostics
