Ok, so is it possible that Regular gas is not good enough for the mustang? I started hearing a noise.. and now that ive switched it to supreme, no noise..

Could just be bad gas from a certain station. Or that you had some water in the system. What kind of noises?

the only way i can explain it is this... it sounds like a diesel engine on idle... and it only happened when i tapped the gas or floored it.. it only happened when i was driving

Sounds like bad gas from the station. There is this gas station down the road from my house, but i don't use it because the gas sits there a lot because no one goes there. And it does make a difference when i run it in my car.

As for getting supreme gasoline, it is a waste of money and could be doing worse to your car if anything at all. These cars were designed to run on regular gasoline, not supreme. So using a different grade of gasoline could be more bad than good for your car.

I read in the manual somewhere that you're supposed to use regular unleaded and that some knocking is normal.

Yes, it was most likely a poor station. there is no point in running higher octange fuel in your car unless you are tuned for it.

higher octane does wear out engine parts quicker since it burns hotter than our engines were designed for.
