Default redline

why does the 3.8 redline at 5250 rpms? it seems pretty damn low for a v6, i would think it could handle 6000rpms easily. Also where is the fuel cut 5500 or higher? i was pondering this for track reasons

you can change your rev limiter with a tuner i was told that 6250 is plenty high enough and shouldn't damage anything, thats what i put mine at
and I don't have any problems with it

There's no reason to rev that high unless your have extremely high flowing heads and cam. The engine will fall flat on it's face before 6000 rpms, anyway. Over reving is a sign of not knowing how to drive for ****.

They are OHV, not OHC.... they don't need to rev that high to get into their power band. Gotta love old school push rods!

6k is over kill on a stock V6 and just asking for trouble. With a high lift cam, better flowing heads with larger valves, LT headers, and a bigger TB then you would need to be closer to 6k

Well that's with a powerpack. You push much more air into the engine with that.

Are we gonna see any pics of this car ever...?
