Yeah man no doubt. On another car of mine I bought a cheap alarm system that came with remote lock capabilitys and used that. You can do that or buy a unit that's just for upgrading to power locks. If you chose to go the alarm system route you will also need to buy a couple of relays and actuators. Those will probably come with a system made for upgrading to power locks. I found it cheaper to go with an alarm. I would give you a diagram of how to wire it all up but I actually just deleted that thing TODAY thinking I wouldn't need it again lol. You should have no problem finding somthing like that though.

This is the kind of actuator to get. You will need two.

This is the relay. You will also need two of these.

You don't have to buy these but they make installation alot easier. With these you can just plug in the relays rather than twisting wires and what-not.

Here is a diagram of how to wire up the relays.

Other than this stuff you just need some kind of alarm or power lock module with lock capabilites and remotes and you'll have keyless entry. If you're wanting to go as far as to install new door panels with the lock switches you can do that too and it will just require a different way wiring of the relays. Hope this helps. Probably looks confusing and I'm not good at explaining things which dosn't help but it's actually a really simple thing to do.

Thanks so much for the info. I think this may be alittle to advanced for me so I might just buy a full kit online, take it to like Circuit City, or Best Buy and let them install it with one of their alarms. Again thanks alot...

If you're going to pay to have it done theres really no need to buy a kit b/c places like Circuit City have all the necessary parts to do a power lock install. If you bring in your own parts they will probably give you some bs about not wanting to do it or they won't warranty anything.

sorry to reanimate a thread, but i am doing the same thing.
i have the power windows, seats, mirrors working...but i cant get the power locks to work.

i had donor parts from a 96, the harness ends were different but i figured with a little work i could make a go of it and i have been ok till this point.

i know that the power locks/switches were from a key-less by comparing the wire colors to the Haynes guide.
my problem is that i have tried several combo's by process of elimination from whats left unconnected in the harness and its a no go.

what i am thinking of doing is going by the wire diagram in the Haynes guide for power without key-less and see if that will work. (20amp fuse link)

big question is ........are the switches the same for key-less vs key-less on the door?
am guessing yes....i cant see ford making two dif. types.

and secondly has anyone gone this route - advice??

thanks.

Damn this is a old thread.

So your current car has keyless entry then correct? Personally I just had a Viper alarm system installed and it came with everything I needed to have power locks.

Bump for you warth
