Battery Relocation
I may need a new battery soon, I think mine is almost dead. I ran my radio and after about 15 minutes the battery was nearly dead, so that probably signals its about time to change it. I'm thinking about relocating it to the trunk (right rear specifically, every lb counts in the distribution area), but I can't find anywhere that shows how to do it. I found the steeda one on american muscle, but 250 bucks is way too much. I'd rather figure it out myself and build my own (but not if I don't hvae to).
I know the forum moderators frown on NOT providing personal experience, so the following link is simply caveated with the following notes:
I just found this site by google,
I have no idea of their knowledge, rep, or experience in what they do, so
Just check them out and see if they sound like what ur lookin for:

thanks. Now I just need to find out if theres a way I can fab my own box, or if I'm gonna have to buy one. I maybe could make it out of wood or something, and then carpet it to blend in.
In reading through that... the wires run through the cabin? It says under the carpet... but does it mean inside the car under the carpet? Wouldn't it be better to run that outside the cabin?
You don't need to fab a box, you can get a plastic box with lid and lid strap at any RV parts store. Install a battery hold down kit inside the box and bolt it through the trunk floor and run a hose from the box through the trunk floor for venting. The plastic box is just to cover the battery and for venting. The bad part of doing this is if you race you will need to install a battery cut off switch in the rear bumper which won't look to cool.
ahhh, so it can be done without purchasing an overly expensive kit. I'm not planning on doing any NHRA type racing. I might take it to the track some when I'm finished with all my plans, and maybe some autox, do they require a cutoff switch?
If you race at any NHRA or IHRA track you will need a cut off switch out side the car even in the street legal brackets. It has to be in plain sight and marked with 'ON' & 'OFF'. You could put it down in the bottom of the bumper where it's not so noticeable. If you don't plan on racing much it's not really worth it though. beside the box you need a battery mount kit, cut off switch, terminals and heavy gauge wire (either #0 or #1 is advised). You only need to run the hot wire if you get a good ground close to the battery (like the frame).
