Default O/D Button

Hi guys and gals. Just bought a '97 V6 and love the car!! I am getting familiar with it....I read the Owner's manual and it said there is a button that disengages the overdrive in the automatic trans. Where is this button? Thanks!

I've always wondered what that button was. What exactly is the purpose of O/D? Is it engaged by default and you use the button to disengage it?

I think the o/d button is only for the automatics. For a manual we have an over drive gear which is 5th.
