Default resonators?

this seems to big a big topic right now i know but what effect would the removal of the resanotors have on the sound for "true or divorced" dual exahaust? i plan on using flow 40's or super 40's with no tips just either a hidden bumper turndown or some thing along those lines but no tips seeing as the set up is O2-cat-O2-res-muf i wouldnt imagine them having any emmisions (NC sux we haveemmisions) but i was jsut wondering what effect exactally res's have for sound or flow or power i knwo they hold hella heat would this be a problem?

I thought the first two cats were the resonators? I guess I was wrong.

I am in NC too, and the inpection for 96 and newer car involves visual and emisson output. If the cat is surrounded by O2 senor then I would think anything after that is unecessary. Are they resonators or a flexible coupling? The resonators have some effect on the volume but not so much on the power, either way they are not needed.

I removed my rears and they looked exactly like cats with the honeycomb and weighed about 30 pounds each. I've never seen a resonator that was that heavy or built like that. So are you saying those were not cats but resonators?

well i was guessing they were resnators but i havent looked in them hah and since there is no sensors on them what is the point of them at all? idk its weird maybe they area second unmetered cat but would it be better in anyones opinion to gut them and put them back on or just cut them out and put exhaust after an since they hold so much heat woudl this make my feet any cooler when im goin down the road as i notice a little heat build up around my legs when im driving does anyone else have this heat problem?

resonators bounce the sound arround inside and when the 2 same sound waves colide they cancel each other out or reduce the sound dramaticaly

go to how it works their is a write up

Yeah I get that heat problem. So what kind of resonators are you looking for? Cherrybombers/magna flow makes resonator catbacks, or are you gonna go with resonators + chambered mufflers?

NO, it will sound like crap if you hollow them out, the case is not heavy enough and will vibrate. I just removed mine and put in straight pipe. You can always try it that way and if you don't like the sound add resonator tips.

yea i think ive decided to just say bye bye to the two rear cats run pipestraight to my *edit* 40 series or super 40's*mufflers and a hidden turn down in the back .....or maybe just behind the rear tires? (hidden still but out the side kinda backish area) but i think im gonna run divorced pipes no H pipe [i dont want and X pipe] or does theH pipe make the tone very differet i know it evens out the exhaust pressure and what not but i dont thinik it improves flow (i may be wrong) tell me if i am worng or headed down a path for a ****ty sound plzzz oh and i thikn im goin to run 2.25" or 2.50" dia pipe will either be ok if iplan on putting more power in it down the road will 2.50" still be ok now?
