Squeaking , can't figure it out
I bought a 99 mustang about a month ago and it hasn't given me any problems. but one thing is that it has this very loud, irritating squeak noise when I turn the steering wheel left or right. no matter what the temperature is. I seem to only hear it coming from the left front wheel. I checked the powersteering and the fluid level is fine. I tried seeing if I could force some air out but that did not work. When i raised the car off the ground and tried, steering the wheel, it made no noise whatsoever so it only happens when the car is on the ground. even hitting very small but subtle speed bumps may set off a very brief and quiet, but noticeable squeak. i don't think it is normal because of how loud it is if I am just trying to parallel park or turn out of a parking lot! could it be something with the suspension? if so what exactly might it be? and has anyone ever had a similar problem and what have you done to fix this? BTW, when i bought it it seemed to have aftermarket tires 17" or so, and it seems the shocks and springs and whatnot are all stock. the car is sitting on 124xxx miles.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
id call it more of a chirping like crickets. thats what i thought it was at first but then i got in a parking lot away from woods and stuff and i was like i guess its not crickets. ha.
I also have this same noise coming from my front drivers side 1995 mustang. It's been doing it for a couple of months now. I hear it when turning the wheels and going over bumps so I'm pretty sure sure it has something to do with the suspension, but what I don't know. It'ssounds like a creak.
happens only when turning wheel? check all components associated with steering...ya i know u probly did. did you look at the lower ball joint? it also moves when steering. and there greasless. they have a tendancy to squeek. get it up on jack stands and turn steering. still squeek?
