Default junkyard turbo setup..

My little brothers buying a 3.8 1995.. were gonna turbo it ... So what all stuff would we need for a diy turbo build.. and we wanna go pretty big on boost, as far as we can with no lag.. but we dont want like 900 dollers in a turbo setup.. just used piping and turbo and intercooler from junkyard..

good luck finding a turbo setup in a junkyard. at least around here, the second one gets in, its usually gone 5min later. that isnt an exaduration either.

plus you cant "just" run high boost. you need the forged internals to do that. you can get away with low boost until you do that, but that will still net you a nice hp upgrade.

+1000, and "but we dont want like 900 dollers in a turbo setup" does that mean you dont want to spend 900 or more? because if it doesn then i think your dreaming man. you woudl have to be very very very lucky to be able to find parts that cheap. that and everything you need for the instal. i think this whole project is a lot more complicated than you think.

I don't know if you can find a turbo setup in a junkyard (pretty interesting)
also with $900 ---way to less money to acomplish your dream, even if you will "carry out" all the work
a high boost setup requires high quality internals
good luck

hes talking like what the guy did over on 3.8 with the diesel turbo but that was still like 1500-2000 and he did all the fabwork himself

you may be able to get a used turbo a used BOV and a used WG and a smaller used intercooler for 900

but you would still need all the custom piping injectors fuel pump a sct and a custom dyno tune

and even then if you got all those parts that cheap the turbo has prolly had the **** run out of it

how about dual t3's out of a couple saab 9000's, a starion intercooler (fairly nice for a front mount), a talon or eclipse turbo bov and piping with the flange, do some research on fuel injectors in other ford vehicles that will work with the mustang, and look at random cars for intercooler piping, what about a svt cobra fuel pump, im sure there is a totaled one somwhere, oil lines is what might cost you some, id go new with those. for the exhaust a few sections of piping from autozone welded with t3 flange on em then an exhaust dump or connect it toyour exhaust. the t3's are internally wastegated so you dont have to worry there.

it can be done but 900 is pushing it.

36lb injectors are a minimum for a single turbo setup, i would probably go the next size up for twin. but youre still gonna need forged internals eventually. whats the point in doing a twin setup with stock internals?

i mean a single bigger turbo will net you more power than a twin setup any day, but when you talk about going twin, you are usually looking for big power. and you cant do that without forged internals.

some extra parts that you would need to get would include stuff like:

forged pistons, rods, cam, (all the internal block parts)
new fuel pump
upgraded water pump
adaptable header(s)
compliable computer/custom wiring harness modifications
bigger injectors
i would assume a 55mm MAF
and other additional parts.

900 may do it but it would not be reliable at all using all used stuff that you have no clue about

you could find a external BOV Cheap from a WRX,SRT,or evo person because people change them all the time
you could get a stock SRT intercooler cheap because srt people swap them out for a larger front mount
you could also get a waste gate farely cheap
you could use a cobra fuel pump
you could use cobra injectors possibly
you would need a battery relocation kit
boost controller

and as far as turbos go you can get a turbo almost from anything its just a matter of fnding what size works best on our cars and what works best for you and what you want your car to do

but still alot work left after finding all the stuff plus he wants to run alot of boost so that means forged internals which you cant get for 900

if you use acobra fuel pump you need a cobra fuel tank. thats a lot of money.
