Default Muffler question

Hi everyone! I'm very new to mustangs andI really like them. My parents just got me a 1999 yellow v6 automatic 3.8L mustang and it works nice. Well I was thinking about getting a muffler change so it can sound more powerful. I have alittle bit saved up, enough for a single muffler. I was thining about cutting the old stock muffler off and then just slipping on a new one and still using the stock tail pipes. Would that work? Does anyone have recommendations on single mufflers that don't sound too loud, just noticeable. Thanks for your tips!

They're essentially worthless and will barely change the sound. Save up to around $400 andhave a local shop fab you up a set of true duals.

I'd search around for a local custom shop. Places like meineke and midas will overcharge you for custom work such as fabbing up a dual exhaust.

+1 on my third gen, i got a quote from midas for $950 for a O/R Y pipe, back with tail pipes, and I had to supply the muffler!?[8D][:@]

i ended up getting short tubes, custom Y high flow cat, and magnaflow catback with stainless tips for about $650 from a local guy

No there not I have one and it sounds great and noticed alittle better throtle reponse. I don't why everyone wants too put on a dual exhaust on, it makes the car sound more like crap IMO.unless your putting force induction on, or serious enginemods . OOhh yeah I know ill get flamed but Ijust don't see why wasting money on a dual exhaust for a stock engine that dosn't need it, its not like it gives you 15 hp. 400$ for what? alittle better pedal reponse . for the guy who wants to know what kind of muffler to put on I have a magnaflow buts that my choice just get what sounds good too you. I don't want to start anything but I had to put my 2 cents worth in. Even if I'am right or wrong lol.

Peace
