Default Need some advice.

I have a 98' 3.8L, T5 Tranny.

My car started giving me problems. When I would put the car in first gear, I could release the clutch without moving. The car would only start moving when I revved the car to about 4k RPM. I could smell the clutch burning. I checked to see if the clutch cable was intact and working properly, everything seemed fine. I tried again wouldn't move til 4k RPM again only this time the clutch burned out.

Right now I am replacing the clutch and before I finish up with that I was wondering if the problem would still be there because of another part.

Any input/help is greatly appreciated.

When the car did start moving it was very slow starting. And when I was in 2nd and 3rd gearand I floored it while doing about 35-45 MPH. The car would just over rev as if an automatic transmission was slipping and the car would slowly pick up.

Don't forget to have the flywheel resurfaced. I'm willing to bet the problem was between the clutch and flywheel and or a bad bearing. Just have things looked over and you should be good.

If it's been resurfaced then no problem, but I'm confused, it's doing the problem after the intall?

Sorry for the confusion, I meant that the clutch that just burned out was installed about a year ago or so and at that time the shop either resurfaced the flywheel or installed a new one.

Anyone have any input on the flywheel situation?
