Default help with nitrous please

okay so between my job and my buddys job and my girlfriend moving into her apartment for school we got the whole system hooked up it is a zex dry kit. but when we went to spray it nothing happened. well no i lied, the power wire started to burn up, so tomorrow we are getting heavier wire for that, now my question is this though, even if the wire did start to overheat wouldnt the system still spray? i remember back when i went through my rice phase that i had a neon light and the power wire burned up but i think that the light was still working.

oh and on the zex kit out of the box that injects the nitrous, there are three wires ones ground, red, and i think a brown one. now one goes to the push button to accually press the nitrous in and then one wire goes into the arming switch. now heres my question. on the arming switch do we need three prongs or can we use two on the bottom of the switch. one is for power and one is for ground, but we ended up doing power and then the other wire from the zex box onto the power prong, so there are two wires onto it (dont ask me why it was my buddys idea and it sounded good so i went along with it)
and one more thing how can we adjust the timing or accually retard the timming. this is on a honda but i didnt know if it is reletively the same

thanks guys

Ok, I had a hard time understanding your post to be honest with you, but it seems like you are a little confused on the wires. I'm in the process of wiring up my zex kit now so maybe I can help. I had a dry kit, now I have wet, both boxes looked similar, had the same 3 wires. One is the 12v power (Red), another ground (black), and the third should be the tps wire (white). I'm not sure which would be brown, that's where you lost me first. I'm really confused about how you say you are wiring the power switch, perhaps a picture or diagram would help. But either way, check this site for installation instructions from Zex: http://www.zex.com/Products/Installa...structions.asp I don't feel like running out to the car to grab my instructions, but I can tell you that near the last page they specifically tell you how to wire like 2 or 3 different power switches on their kits.

As far as timimg goes, look for a timing adjusteror something like that, I know aem makes them for imports, and I can't remember who else but I remember there were at least 1 more company thatdid.Or take it to a tuner.

Good luck on the install, oh and btw you might wanna post this in the pipes, boost, juice forums. You might get some more responses there too.

Your arming switch is not grounded unless it has a light in it. I used a 20 amp relay for mine, then you can run smaller wires inside the car. Doesn't that kit come with a wiring diagram? It should have one and be very clear where each wire goes so read it again. It's these kinds of foul ups is how people blow up their engines. Slow down and do it right. If the car has a distributor you can manually retard the timing, if it's computer controlled you need a flash tuner. Also you need to run colder plugs and high octane gas and retard the timing 2 degrees for every 50 hp shot. If you are spraying less than 50 hp I wouldn't worry about retarding it since they are on the retarded side already for emissions.

When you hook it up, you are supposed to arm it without the nitrous line connected to the box and then go WOT to test and see if the solenoids open. I'm assuming you programmed the box first right? And that everything is hooked up correctly. If so, disconnect the nitrous feed line from the box, turn the car on (don't start it, you just want power) and then push the gas pedal to the floor. You should hear a loud "click" each time you floor it. That would be the solenoids opening. If not, then you either didn't hook everything up right or there is something wrong with the box. I'd check the tps signal wire and make sure you're tapped into the right one, and make sure you programmed the box correctly again. Then use that site I posted to find the directions for you kit, and read them over a couple times and recheck your installation. Good luck.
