Default Cams

I'm most likely gonna get an exhaust (from my other thread) around christmas time. I've heard some clips of cammed V6's, and they just sound amazing. What I'm wondering, is what cam will give me the best sound and performance combo on a stock engine (except a 2.5" catback setup and eventually a K&N). I know there's other mods that are probably easier and better, but a cam would be pretty fun to do, as I enjoy working on my car, and I try to find things I can work on. Also, if I were to buy the kit from rpm mustangs, what would I need in addition to the cam itself? DO I need the valve springs and roller rockers and gaskets and pushrod/shim kit and new lifters, or just the cam?

So, which cam is the best for a stock 98 V6 with no intention of any major power mods except maybe longtubes or something like that. I wouldn't be goig ported or anything. I think I read something about emmissions with longer duration cams. Can cams cause you to fail emissions?

I dont know anything about cams for our cars, but refering to emissions. I wouldnt think it would make you fail.Emissionsismanaged by your car's computer and numerous sensors. I could be wrong, but that makes sense to me.

It depends on the lift of the cam is as to what else you might need. A bigger cam can require new springs and gaskets will be a must with any cam swap. Talk to the guys at rpm and they can help you choose a cam and tell you what else you'll need. Also if you have an auto you can only go so big before you have to put a stall converter in or it won't idle in gear.

Having owned cams from two of the three major companies (Delk, SSM, RPM), and discussed cams with the other, I recommend talking to Matt @ Delk.

In addition to quick turnaround and great customer service, my Delk cam resulted ingreat power (220whp w/ just CAI, take-offs, Heads, Cam... nothing else), great sound in my opinion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG0_d-wswyM), and the idle is good, too... 100% driveable.

I've got a manual, I absolutely despise torque converters. lol

I may or may not do it any time soon, it all depends on how much money comes in over the next couple months.
