99-04 Computer Problems?
Does anyone know if the computers on the 99-04 have mass problems--I mean was there a recall or notice from Ford that there were issues? I know my computer needs to be flashed, but Ford is charging as much to do the deed as it costs to buy my own tuner (and before anybody tells me to buy my own tuner, money is definetly an object...an object I can't find). I heard (just once) that the '03's were having random computer problems, but I can't find anything to back that up. My neighbor just wrecked his '02 V6 () and he offered to give me his...but I don't want to go through that if I'm going to end up with the same problems.

RE: 99-04 Computer Problems?
Thanks lasser [:'(]...has anyone had problems with their computer or am I the only luck b1tch out there? In case it helps, I found out from Ford that I have this problem when I noticed a rough idle, needles on all meters would go from 0 to top end when I crank the engine, RPM's would bottom out and car would cut off when I push the clutch in. I changed sparks/wires, air filter, oil & filter, checked the fuses, seafoamed, and had codes run (which came back with nothing) so I took it to the Blue Oval boys. I've got an '03 5pd coupe with about 75k, I got it with 4 miles on it.

RE: 99-04 Computer Problems?
sounds more like your idle air control valve than the computer.i would say before you get raped take off the IAC, and clean the **** out of it with carb cleaner, also clean the throttle body. see if that helps. The IAC usually won't throw a code but will present with symptoms similar to what you describe. and if worse comes to worse it is only $45 at the auto parts store.
good luck. btw i've been on this site for awhile and have never heard of a computer problem, i have however heard of lots of people with dirty or worn out IAC valves. best of luck.
