CAI
It will most deffinitly complement it, but don't be expecting some type of huge power gain, you're only getting 2-3 rwhp tops out of the cai. You'll notice a little better throttle responce in the upper revs as opposed to stock, but other than that, that's it.
Yes, it sounds like your blowing air from eh, an air compressor I guess. I like it but not everyone does. In the beginning it gets a little annoying but once you get familiar with it, you don't even notice it so it's all mashed potatoes w/ gravy with a 24 oz. steak

We had to put the stock intake back on my wife's V6 because the K&N without the MAF screen was causing some jerkiness in the idle upon coasting or decelleration.I am going to fabricate a screen for the K&N FIPK out of some stainless steel screen with a slightly larger mesh opening than the stock screen and re-install it after I get a couple of new gaskets. I don't know why the K&N CAI's do this, but it's a fairly common issue with them across all models of Mustangs.
It's because of the screen. I read somewhere earlier that it has to do something with the airflow and not just as an added bug catcher. Though, I have yet to research this on my own. If I were you, I'd try to fab a replica of the screen or you might just be better off finding one on ebay or a junkyard. I don't guess it'd be too hard.

That's exactly why they run crappy with no screen. The screen is to control and direct the air flow across the MAF sensor and without it the air can bypass the sensor so the computer can't tell how much air is entering the engine. My car kept dying when I would stop without the screen and it ran like new again as soon as I put it back in.
Mmm... Hate to break it to you but you're most likely going to have fitment issues with that American Muscle CAI... I ended up having to buy a new hose and new fittings to get it to go in right... Good luck... [:@]
