i have a 2000 v6.....i raced my friend in his 95 v6 5-speed w/cold air....
1-2nd it was about even then once he hit his third i blew right past him....got'em by like 2-3 cars b4 we stopped.....
i dont think the 98 would beat a 99.....

Well I find it plausible that a 94-98 V6 5 sp could beat a 99-04 V6 auto simply because of the way Ford autos are, and of course, there is the driver aspect. In short, if the manual is powered by a decent driver and with an engine and or other, that has little to know problems, and goes up against an auto with a rookie driver, then I'd say yes, the manual could win the short run race, however, in the long run, the victory will always go to the 99-04.

I raced a kid in my town, He has a 2000 autoV6 with 18's and I have a 98 V6 with CAI and short shifter and I beat him from 0-50 and then we let off, but I was about a halfcar ahead of him. I don't really think they are too much faster.

the 98-'s are 100 lbs lighter also (and from what ive heard its about 10hp per 100lbs) so that helps out a tad. however if both cars are about the same performance wise (particularly if his car is an auto and he cant drive worth a crap) i see no reason why u couldnt win. your exhaust is good for a few ponies, you have to have atleast a k+n without silencer (if not...wow), and your car is lighter and you have the benefit of a 5sp...if his is bone stock automatic then yeah you should be beating him.

LOL at the people saying it doesnt take much for a sn95 to run with a new edge. Thats like saying it dont take much for a new edge to run with a gt. LMAO. Look the mustang gt weighs 500lbs more then v6 therefor the v6 can beat him with exhaust. LOL you guys sound ignorant.

99-04 V6's are slow. But the 94-98's are 1000x slower. New edges are mid 15 second cars with a good driver. An sn95 is lucky to break mid 16's.

You have a friend with a horribley kept up 99-04 sixer. That has lost probably 20% of its power because of it. Because your car has 18inch rims and a sound system. that would make your car a 17sec car. And you sya his wasnt much faster then yours. go figure.
