no, you can do it but itwont do anything for you. some people swear bye doing the d2d shift...start in drive then shift to 2nd right before the car shifts then back into drive when you want to..but i dont think it does anything really.
well you mean throttle replonce in 1 or 2 thats because it locked in 1st or 2nd and the computer cant/doesnt shift it up to save gas and then have to shift back backdown a gear whenyou mash on it
if you do it a lot it will cause premature wear on your transmission, but no more than if you just leave it in D and drive the crap out of it. bottom line is if you beat the car up don't be surprised when things fail.
i would just leave it in drive, if you wanna shift gears then do it right and buy a manual. the only real reason they have those is for towing (uphill) and if you get stuck in mud...neither of which a mustang is gonna be doing.
