bbk or mac
as far as i know mac is the only company that makes longtube headers for the v6...and lt's are the only headers worth buying....the stock headers are good to over 300hp and at that point lt's will net greater gains then shorties.....so in my opinion either get mac lt's or dont get anything
MAC exhaust set-up will conver your single exhaust to a dual exhaust setup up until the cats. Then you can buy the cat-back setup of your choice. You will need to buy a cat back setup for a GT or cobra. If it's for a cobra though, make sure it's prior to 99 when they went to IRS. You will get a more aggressive tone, and a WAY better flowing exhaust. If you car is mainly stock, you could see a loss in some torque, but if it's slightly modified, then you will see gains. Basically dual exhaust allows you exhaust to breathe better so it's not robbing your engine from hp. So in that sense, you're not really getting or adding hp, you're just freeing it up. When I eliminated my cats from my 4.2, i went from 167rwhp to the 218rwhp. That's what a restrictive exhaust can do for you.
Mac and BBK are great companies in my opinion. I've bought product from both. And both Mac and BBK make headers for the my year V6, but I don't know what year you have. But either way, let me give you one piece of advise, get the ceramic coated!!!!!! Painted lasts about 2 seconds and Chrome will rust to crap. Not only will they last longer and look great forever, but they run cooler. Jet-Hot coating is a great product if you find a good deal on painted or chrome headers. Jet coatings, coat the inside and outside so they run very cool.

HotRods_n_Booze are htc coated mac headers good or are the ceramic way better

edit: just to make things clear before someone with Jet-hot coated headers cry. Jet coating is a patented alloy just like HTC is. Jet claims to be a different and better formula then HTC, but they are both a metallic-ceramic coating which is now just referred to as ceramic coating.
