Ok, seeing how Im becoming a cop, lemme inform you with some information...Radar detectors are pointless. Especially on a highway! Once your radar detector goes off, we already have you clocked and locked. You're screwed! Radar jammers are becoming useless now a days because there is a new band that the cops are using and is a higher freq then the one laser uses.

dont say they are pointless, ive gotten out of MANY tickets by mine. picks up radar miles up the road before you even see me. however yes laser is becomming more and more used, and the only way for a radar detector to pick laser up is for that tiny *** laser beam to actually run across the sensors on the radar detector. in other words laser is hardly ever picked up. plenty of cops still using k and ka tho

True. You are right, I should not have said pointless. Each state/city is different too. Some cities may have cheaper guns and same with state compared to other states/cities. How fast were you going when the detector "saved" you. From experiences and tests done on the highway, once the detector goes off, your speed is clocked. This was NOT with a laser gun.

far exceeding the limits...by saved i dont mean i was going 5mph over.

i.e.

couple weekends ago me and a hand full of friends in 3 cars were comming back down an extremely isolated 2 lane road with a 45mph speed limit. were probably doing 75-80 at the time and the road makes a decent left turn (not real sharp but enuff i had to slow down). before we even hit the turn tho my radar detector started beeping...couple miles up the road hiddin in the trees was a cop sitting there with his gun left on.

another instance i was leaving base driving down te road (2 lanes each direction) and most ppl do about 60 (limit is 45). well there was one car infront of me and they took off like a bat out of hell and were doing about 65-70, i was following them from a good distance at the same speed. radar started beeping so i hit the brakes, the road starts making a slight right turn and i see a SP sitting in the middle of the 2 sides (grass median). was doing the posted 45 limit before he was even in view. so the car infront of me sees him and slams his brakes. cop flipped his lights on and i moved over into the right lane, he took off after the first guy.

they arent foolproof either. my last speeding ticket was in a 35mph zone...and it was on a stretch of "highway" that changes speed limits every 10 feet. it literally goes from 65, 55, 45, 35 really fast. well i missed the signs. i get around this turn and see a cop sitting there. then i hear the beeping...got in the right lane and started looking for the closest place to pull over to get my ticket (he didnt have his gun on except to spot check speeders...MOST cops around here and back home just leave their guns on...some even while they are just driving not even looking for speeders).

if the cop is radaring someone farther up the road from me it gives me a heads up and i slow down before they target me...if its you they are checking and they havent had their gun on except to 'shoot' you...then your ****ed.

in the cobra the VG-2 and Spectra dont hide your radar detacter from the cops, it lets you know if they have the decector that recognized a radar detector. in states that radar detectors are illegal they have VG-2 and Spectra which lets them know if you are using a radar detecor. so if you are in one of those states and your radar dectector says VG2 ALERT then you should prolly turn it off and hide it so you dont get a ticket for having it.

Yeah radars will help you like if theres a cop ahead with his radar on or if hes clocking other people you'll get the signal and you can slow down in time if he just clocks you your ******* , LOL! But radar jammers are not worth it because they are illegal because basically your sending false signals over a freq. that you have to have a license for so you'll get *****. Laser jammers are good there legal in most states and have been proven to workmy dad has the blinder m20 sitting in his closet waiting to be installed. Oh and as far as radars the best are the escort 8500 and there new one thats above that the bel x65 and the valentine one if you have deep pockets go with the valentine. But if not go with the escort its good I use my dad's escort 8500once in a while and it definetely helps.
