4.2L stroker
I can't seem to find any information online, so i thought i'd give it a post....
What kind of gains are expected going from a 3.8l to a 4.2l, with stock non-forged internals?
What kind of horsepower can the 4.2l handle?
What are some reasonable numbers if it was kept naturally aspirated and still maintain driveability?
Worth the swap?
I appreciate your input. thanks

Are you going to swap an f150 or get a stroker kit?
Are you going to touch the H/C/I?
Power it can handle will be determined by themoney spent on the internals *
You could put out 300rwhp if you kept it N/A*
I was thinking of pulling the crankshaft and the rods out of an f150. I dont need the piston heads, right? cant i use mine?
I also was looking into a port and polish job on the heads, and upper/lower intake. I think a light cam is in my range also.

You don't need new rods, 96 and newer 3.8 rods are identical to 4.2 rods. Your block probally will have to be bored unless it is very low mileage, so it makes since to overbore it at the sdame time witch in that case you will need larger pistions.
Read this thread regarding stroking, a lot of good info in there.

if you didnt bore your engine, how would you change your displacement?

I wonder though, what a torque monster an overbored 4.2L V6 would be. lol
I thought that changing the length of the stroke was what the 3.8 to4.2 swap was all about. Is it really necessarry to bore the cylinder out if i'm going to use the same pistons?
