Pull the fuel pump fuse, start the car, and let it run until it dies.

To take the fuel filter off?Don't bother. A bit of fuel will pour out from the lines, but not much. But you're going to need a fuel line removal tool. I don't think they have the quick release tabs on them. My GT doesn't at least.

You can skip 'relieving the fuel pressure' if your car has been sitting overnight. If not, you should pull the pump fuse as described and turn the car over for a few seconds to relieve the pressure. You can also disconnect the inertia switch in the trunk for the same effect.

Popping the fuel lines off after turning off the car without relieving the pressure will result in fuel spray because the system is stillunder pressure.

99-04 will require a fuel line disconnect tool for about $5 from any parts store. You want the 3/8" size.
