Default higher/lower compression

what kind of heads will up the compression or whatnot on my 98 v6? or even lower it? any kind of performance heads? or from another car, that iss a complete bolt on.?

Just have the heads milled... height shaved off the bottom... and you'll gain compression.

The other goodway to gain/lose compression is with different pistons. Pistons that make the combustion chamber smaller mean higher compression, and those that make the combustion chamber larger mean lower compression.

yep pretty much what he said

why do you want to raise.. or lower your compression?

well accually i guess i wanted to know wher any kind of performance heads, or heads i could yank off of another car is to gain hp. the honda guys have faster cars if they raise their comprresion, which would help as higher rpms and **** i believe, so i guess its not really just to rais compression but another motor i could take the heads off and put onto mine for more horsepower.

What are you actually wanting to do? The best way to add compression is to get a longer stroking piston rod and different piston heads.

There's no reason to lower compression unless you are looking to add forced induction up the wazoo.

We don't have Honda engines though. They have a competely different type of engine than we do in our V6's so their engines respond differently to modifications than ours do.

Umm..Honda vs your mustang..no comparison. OHC vs OHV (Pushrod) motor.

Yes you can gain some HP/TQ by increasing compression but you also reduce your ability to do anything with FI and it's not the best way to increase the power on your pushrod engine.

If you want more power, work on getting better flowing heads. Try supersixmotorsports.com and check out their 'power paks'.

I would do like Derf00 said and get the heads to flow better with a port and polish job and back cut the intake valves but if you really want to increase compression the cheapest way is to try and find thinner head gaskets. it'll do the same as shaving the heads but for a lot less money.

no way your telling me i dont have vtec, damn .................................. lol nah i know but still you can gain some hp out of most engines by raising compression.

is it hard to take off the heads out of a 98?
