Default V6 turbo question

I would like to put a turbo on my 2006 v6 mustang. I am looking at either sts or powerhouse(i live really close to powerhouse) but i found out that recently one of my buddies had an 11psi turbo installed on his gt. He scattered the engine on the road because it couldn't take the forced injection. We're talkin pistons crank. everything went boom. I dont want this happening to me considering i dont exactly have wads of cash to spend. Can anyone tell me anything about if this happens often or what psi would be safe..if any?

They normally say 6-8psi is safe with fuel mods.

3.6 without fuel mods -

I don't think anybody makes a turbo for the 99-04 v6 anymore however.

Did your buddy retard the timing? If he didn't you get detonation and that'll blow it up real fast.

Sounds like someone installed a turbo without a tune (or at least a good one).

i'm not sure. i don't think he had any fuel mods. which is adefinite problem it seems, but he had the install done by powerhouse so i can't see how they would miss that. unless they make you do your own tuning. but with thefuel mods.. injectors and a new pump. is that it? there won't be any like gasket changes or anything? cuz i wondered to myself if those stock gaskets on the engine could take f.i. especially the little v6 ha. and how much does a set of new injectors and a pump cost ya?

Rygen told me that 10psi should be fine from a PH turbo on a daily driven 4.0L. He was running a PH turbo (unsure of psi) and a 75-shot to run 10.9's. Dual power adders are tough on our 4.0L's, but the PH set-up is nice.

You will also need supporting mods. If you are going with a power adder, then forget beefing up the 7.5" rear - go directly to a 8.8" GT take-off assembly. It will be money wasted otherwise. You'll need LCA's, UCA, better tires, and perhaps add'l suspension mods to fully take advantage of the newfound power.
