Default V6 Acceleration Problem

Was driving down the interstate doing 80, suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and almost stalled...I pulled over, turned off the car and then started it up again, had acceleration for a few miles, happened again...had to keep stopping and restarting the car in order to get home.

Any ideas on what is wrong? I changed the fuel filter last year, have only put another 15,000 miles on the car since I changed it.

Fuel pump? I'm at a loss..taking it into the mechanic tomorrow, just wanted to know what to expect.

I figured as much, I'd rather fork out $400 for peace of mind over the holidays, which isn't much of a dent in my wallet.

Hopefully this all that's wrong....

Any chance it could be a clogged fuel filter, got bad fuel in the line that clogged it up? I'm going to have my fuel system and injectors cleaned, it's only $75 and if that is the issue it's better than forking out $400 for a whole new pump that I didn't need.

Any ideas on my last suggestion that it might be something clogging the fuel system and not the fuel pump?

2000 V6.....it only hesitates and has a hard time when the RPM goes up past 2500...
