Hey I have the same problem on my 02. I talked to a guy and he said if you have a mach surround sound sysytem then when they installed it they may have put in the seat belt backwards and so it may need to be turned around but i don't know if that will fix the problem... i guess it won't hurt to try right?

hmm... i have the mach 460 in my '02. My belt retracts good enough for now, but when it is in the loop thing at the top of the seat it seems as if it is backwards or something. I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow and show ya'll for some suggestions. A faulty seatbelt is nothing to ignore - I put mine on b4 I even start the car.

From what I've found the issue isn't with the retractor itself. It's the loop that supports the belt. It's too closed in plus it's off center with the retractor so there's a lot of friction keeping it from going in. If you pull the belt out below the loop and let it go you'll see the retractor works fine. I've been thinking about making something to fix it but have just never got around to it.
if you mean the loop on the seat thats not it. mine doesnt stay in the loop anyway so i alwasy leave it out. i have to feed it into the hole to get the belt to retract. i can hold it pefectly in line with the hole and it wont go by itself.

the mach is factory installed and they wouldnt have to mess with the belts to put it in. that and in 94 they didnt have the mach system and those cars have the same problem.

My 2000 does it too and I just ignore it. It's true if you replace the belt it will justdo it again a year later.

No not the one on the seat. Using that one makes it even worse though b/c it causes the belt to twist and get hung up in the restrictive second loop. It's just all together a bad design. I think a simple fix would be to open up the loop with a little dremel action. If your retractor itself has gone out then that's a different problem. I don't think it would be too far off to say it's probably b/c of all the stress that's put on it by that one loop though.

I hate it in mine too. I somehow got my seat belt flipped around twice after the flat thing it goes through... It is hell getting mine to go back in. lol

I've owned 3 95 models and I haven't had a single problem with the seatbelts.

That can't be safe if you get in a wreck though. Ejection FTL.
