Default HID Headlight Issues

Hi All: Hope someone can point me in the right direction on this. I installed a new Elite HID headlight package in my 2006 V6 Mustang. I followed the directions and spliced the ground and hot wires to the appropriate wiring loom wires on each side of the car. The headlights work for about 5 minutes, but during that time they "dim" or "flicker" whenever I apply the brake and the brake lights come on. After about 5 minutes they just turn off. They will then come back on after being off for a period of time, but again, only for about 5 minutes. The new HID lights are great, makes nighttime driving a lot easier, but now it looks like I may have to put everything back the way it was with the stock Ford headlights, which are yellow in comparison.

Anyone have any ideas why I'm having this issue?

I thought the kits were plug-n-play? Why did you splice anything? You my have a weak ground, add a better one.

My HID kit was a plug and play kit. But I remember it saying somewhere in the book that on some cars (very few) that you might get a flickering because the Vechile's computer is confused by the HID systems's lower power usage. It says to fix the problem that you need to install a relay to stabalize the power delivered to the HID system. But my car in a 00 so not sure if yours is any different, but shouldn't cost much for you to install a relay.
