Default exhaust

hey guys, long time no questions[8D]

Im trying to help out a friend with his 03 sixxer. he has the cracked manifold, and wants to jsut do full exhaust while he's at it. so he's decided on MAC LT's, i convinced him to go with flow 40's, with a catback welded by a local shop(they'll do it for under 200). what's he got to worry about for the midpipe? all we can find is O/R...this is NY, so we have emissions here....

and its a high schoolers budget

You should be good I was gonna run that set up in NJ, aslong as you got the cat's it should clear. I have the flow catback and it cleared.

Im not sure what to tell him about a mid though- I've found O/R, but not new catted ones. would a stock GT midpipe fit them? flash said he was going that route in a old thread.

With LT headers a GT shorty midpipe will fit. The header bolts should line up the same. You'll probably want an H with Flows, not an X. X's sound like *** on sixers, anyway, IMO. BBK makes a catted shorty H for GT's.

No, it won't. It needs to be short things the LT's come down so far. The stock GT midpipe is almost 4 feet long. A shorty would barely be 2 feet.

I would go with an o/r setup on longtubes, it sounds amazing. A GT shorty midpipe will have to be widened about 2" for it to line up with the collectors on the long tubes. Mac used to make a shorty mid pipe with cats for the v6, but they no longer do. New York is a big city, i bet someone has a catted midpipe that they will let you borrow for the emissions test.
