lets look at it from the other end of the spectrum. when you see a civic drive down the street, if its not an SI, you dont say "oh thats not a civic, its just a pos". you acknowledge the car for the name of it, not what is under the hood. you dont see a 3rd generation camaro coming at you from the other direction half a mile away and say "thats not a real camaro, its not a v8". why? because you view the car equally regardless of what engine it has in it. and since when does the car automatically change in authentication once you realize what engine it has?
good post..i agree with everything you said...i for one don't ever knock v6 stangs mainly cause, 1. i owned one 2. its a mustang...the only v6ers deemed worthy of a little making fun of are either riced out(same goes for GT's,Mach,(rarely ever cobras
)or are sporting "GT" badges when they aren't.

Just because a guy says he owns an "SRT-4", that doesn't change the fact that it's still a neon, or in the case of the Evo VIII, it's still based off of the old Mitsubishi Mirage.
I guess i need to just bust out the all time grocery getter that is still, with little modification,a stang/vette/supra ttdestroyer, the 1997 Mazda Cosmo. Stock @ 280hp 6500rpm, 1.9L, or with Mazda's prepped engine option 450hp @ 8500rpm, N/A by the way, still 1.9L of displacement, with a redline of 13k rpm due to the laws of physics not allowing the oil to move through the engine fast enough. I think that there is a pretty displacement replacement, and a Mustang GT owner has that very engine swapped into his 01 GT with a T-5.
