Default Plug Wires

I bought new plug wires, but genius me decided to haul *** to and from O' Reilly's, and forgot that the plug wires run right through the exhaust manifolds pretty much, so yeah, they're damn hot right now.

Anyways, I've got two questions. One, does anyone know the order of the longest to shortest wires? I could figure it out, and just label them, but it would make my life easier if someone just wants to tell me. Also, for the passenger side, do I need to remove the air intake tube up to where it connects to the throttle body? I'm thinking I need to because there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to get my hands down in there without doing it.

Stupid ****ing hot exhaust manifolds...

yep simple as matching the one you took off with the 6 possible new ones.

yes you need to take off the intake tubing unless yuou want to add 3 hours onto your plug wire install

alright, thanks.

It looks fairly straightforward to pull off, but is there any tricky special tool ****? I thought changing my fuel filter was gonna be cake when I did it, but the stupid haynes manual didn't tell me I needed a quick release thing. haha. PUlled on that bitch for 3 hours before giving up and checking on here.

Yeah you will need to take the intake off. Just unclip the wire harness by the filter and use a flat head to unscrew the ring around the throttle body and it will pull right out. Pull the wires off one at a time and match up the new ones. Make sure you run them so they are not touching any part of the exhaust. Simple as that no special tools needed.

Definately a lot easier with the intake tube off, (4 bolts & a hose clamp). Also an easier job if you have a swivel head ratchet & a short extension (if your going to change the plugs too, which you might as well, since your 70% there already!). Some masking tape with numbers on them is not a bad idea. Mark the rocker cover & coil pack with the plug lead numbers. A tiny bit of antisieze on the threads only makes them come out a bit easier next time.

All your wires are numbered, so it's pretty tough to screw it up, unless you got some cheapies lol

My wires aren't numbered I don't think. I didn't buy expensive ones, they were like 30-40 bucks or so at O Reilly's.

I don't need new plugs, I had those changed last winter, and I guess I forgot to have them do the wires at the same time, so now I'm doing them. Keep in mind, that this was right after I got the car, and didn't know anything about working on cars, which is why I had the shop change the plugs.

I got them installed. Took me about 45 minutes after it was all said and done. The biggest bitch was those little clips that hold in the wires. Gosh. I broke all the ones on the drivers side. Why the **** does Ford like to use so much cheap plastic stuff. The radator shroud thing, I ripped that out because after taking those plastic screws out a couple times, they got stripped.

Anyways, got the old ones out, they were bad. 1 and 2 were worn like down to the core, and while the rest weren't as bad, they were still worn enough to show metal, just not as much as 1 and 2. Other than that, it wasn't hard though. Haven't taken it for a drive yet, so we'll see, maybe I'll get some more MPG out of them.

Good job!, you wanna get those plastic clips back replaced though or anything that might allow the plug wires to touch the exhaust or any other metal parts of the engine. Any metal can potentially rub through the plug wire insulation.

ATB Steve.
