Default Chip Help

Ok So I Am New To This, So I Am Thinking About Getting The SCT Chip From AmericanMuscle.com and Was Wondering If I Bought That Chip If I Would Have To Buy a Tuner Too???

Or Can I Just Put The Chip In My Car And Be All Set?
And Will I Need A Tuner In The Future?

It's either a chip or tuner, not both. A tuner would be the better investment though.

Whats The Difference?

Now The Tuner Just Updates My Stock Chip?

A chip has only preset tune(s). In other words, you tell the manufacturer your specs, and the upload a tune(s) for your car. Some chips you can have multiple tunes and flip between each, but you can't do anything more than that. In other words, add in a supercharger or other major mod, or just want to do some light tinkering and you're screwed by having to uninstall the chip and having it retuned by the manufacturer. A tuner, is just that, a device used to tune the ECU. They generally come with preset tunes, however, you can adjust those tunes to your liking, or just make up one yourself.

I had a chip but you have to have to reprogrammed everytime you install a "big" mod or else it will fry as in my case. . .my car was going haywire for a week or two. It would sporadically stop on the road for no reason.

I say get the tuner, much better investment.

There really is no "best" as they're all going to do pretty much the same on a stock car. Here are some name brands to look into.

SCT
Diablo
Sniper
PMS tuning software
Tweecer RT tuning software

Stick with those top 3...
SCT is the top choice of the v6 community.
