Default Motor Oil question, and performance question

I got my oil changed today in my car for the first time since I got it...I waited about 4000 miles :\ I was going to get it done, but I just never had the time with as much as I work... Anyway, I got some Royal Purple in there, since I heard that's some pretty good stuff. I was just wondering if that's true, because my oil change costed $82, and if there's not any kind of difference, then I'd rather not spend that much haha.

Also, I'm wondering if I bought a diablosport predator tuner, what kind of horsepower gains would I get?

I looked on americanmuscle.com and I can't seem to find one for a 2004 v6, on there..so do they even make one?

And, when I got my oil changed, the guy scanned something on my door, and it showed up that I have a 3.9L V6..I thought it was only 3.8.

You have a late 2004 model, hence the 3.9L V6. The tuner can get you some so-so HP gains, depending on your knowledge of tuning!

So what's the max hp gained you think I could get if I had a good tune?

Max would be probably 13-20 and that would probably be on the dyno.

Btw:
Once you go Synthetic you have to stick with it

Well, does it really help with gas mileage and with horsepower?

no you don't. today's synthetics are fully capable of being blended with natural crude/parrifin based oils.

i run this. cheap advance auto oil with 1 quart as the last quart of Lusac oil conditioner.

on high mileage engines i will run the last quart as a quart of ATF. ATF is high detergent and scrubbs sludge deposits out of an engine. this is only a 500-1000 mile oil interval then change it with fresh oil and 1 bottle of lucas.

Royal Purple is good stuff too butlucas is alittle less pricey and IMO everybit as good. Hi-Tach is decent stuff too as is Redline and Drydene oils.

cheap advance total grip filter is a good filter too. stay away from fram filters they have the cheapest internal design. Advance and purolator are better. K&N filter=waste of money and is not needed to filter down that small of a particle. i do like their integrated nut on the end of the filter though and i use in on my heavy service diesels where the filter gets tight as hell

Why is that? I use Valvoline 5w-20. Change it every 3000 miles. I would like someone to explain to me how synthetic is better? Wat ways/reasons/facts.

Royal Purple is one of the best motor oils you can get, i work at a jiffy lube and there isn't a significant difference from most full synthetics from royal purple, but theres a difference, also im pretty sure V6(2000 like mine) might be same as all other V6(99-04) and take 5W-30, im not looking at it so i could be wrong, you also dont have to stick with full synthetic oils, but if you are going full synthetic now, then change to a conventional or regular oil, then decide to go back to full synthetic you should also get an engine flush to get the gains from synthetic oil .

i unforutuately work at jiffy lube to (friday is last day thought )...............

STOP LEARNING THEIR BULL **** WAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

unless you have a heavily boosted/modded engine there is no real reason to run synthetic unless you drive alot of miles, to which you can run 5-10k on some oils, but most filters wont last that long, all the "engine flush" is is keroseane and doesnt do ****, i used to run full synthetic and went backit hasnt made a single differance

99-00 is 520 01-04 is 530 or the other way around, dont remember exactly

royal purple is good if you dont mind spending $15 for a quart, and for 99% of people, your not even going to have the car long enough for it to make a differance

btw do you run "winter oil" in your car[8D]
